Has anyone ever made Christmas ornaments that are dipped in paraffin?

When I was little, my mom, sister and me made some really pretty Christmas tree ornaments. They were basically like origami stars, about 3" tall and were 3D. We dipped them in paraffin and sprinkled them with glitter. They lasted for years and were so pretty. Does anyone know how to make them?
