Why did Bush scare his followers into believing that in campaign `04 Kerry would expand government...........?

The Bush family has always despised the Kennedy family, and in order to get people to think a conservative like Kerry was a liberal, Bush slandered Ted Kennedy by calling him "the conservative senator from Machusetts." Kerry didn't even slug him, let alone demand that he apologize while licking Kennedy's boots. So WTF difference does it make WTF an (_*_) like Bush says or said?
