Was it moth man?

this happened about 6 years after my previous question in 1966. we set up camp for the weekend. elvis [another freind named brandon nickname] put on some beef stew around sunset. i was putting up a tent brandon and kyle were looking for wood when the came running back they claimed they saw a batman. i had heard about it but ped it off we were in virgina. then when i took out my rifle and started loading it elvis jumped into the tent and brandon & kyle ran to the car. i saw big red eyes behind the tree we all jumped into the tent and elvis peeked throw the flap the thing was squated down by the fire. elvis threw out a firecracker. and it just backed up a little. we were debatind whet to do. finally i gave brandon my rifle and i pulled out my .357 we jumped out of the tent i fired 3 shots [i think one hit] and we ran to my truck. we left the camp. kyle took the shotgun from under the seat. and we drove to town went back the next day, our camp was destroyed. we always took guns with us
