Are you supposed to love God for what you think you can get from Him?

I've been watching some stuff on YouTube lately about televangelists and the gospel of prosperity, which basically teaches that if you worship Jesus and do the right thing, you'll become rich just like the ministers on TV. One example that really stands out is Peter Popoff, whose viewers send him loads of money for "holy water" that is supposed to make them rich and cure them of everything from AIDS to cancer. Are you supposed to love God for what you think you can get from Him? Do children love their parents for what they think they can get from them and vice versa? And do people also love their friends for that reason?
